Our Story
At Atmospheric Chaos, we bring a lifetime of passion for severe weather to our mission of educating others. As weather nerds from a young age, we have always been fascinated by the power of Mother Nature. It inspired us to study meteorology, public policy, and data science; join and participate in severe weather research projects (VORTEX 2, ROTATE & WAS*IS - Weather and Society Integrated Studies) in addition to spending countless time on the road chasing severe weather. Together our team has witnessed hundreds of tornadoes, giant hail, incredibly structured supercells, hurricanes, blizzards, and ice storms - including:
-
Joplin, MO EF5 tornado - May 22nd, 2011
-
Moore, OK EF5 - May 18th, 2013
-
Hurricane Michael - October 10th, 2018
Forecasting, and chasing severe weather has made us acutely aware of the knowledge gaps that exist. We are dedicated to sharing our knowledge and experience with extreme weather events in helping others prepare for the unexpected. Having witnessed severe weather and its aftermaths first-hand, we are excited to announce that COMING SOON! -- will be the launch of our severe weather education immersive experience with access to the resources & training you need to help stay safe and prepared!
